If you get this comment please do not click the link. If you do it will send out comments like it through your account to other deviations.
Report it as spam if it is on your deviation.

If you happened to click the link please look in your activity and re-comment on what was spammed, mentioning what has happened.

If possible please post a journal warning others of this issue and/or linking to this article so it can be stopped.

I took a short course in photography at Southbank Institute of Technology over the past 4 weeks and one of the things my teacher mentioned was image size... I'd never really given much thought to how my shots looked to other people but hearing about the monitors the other budding photographers used in my class made me stop and think.

I have a 20" widescreen LCD monitor and I run it at 1680x1050 (I don't wear glasses yet!). The majority of people in my class had 15" - 19" square screens and ran at 1024 or less. Needless to say, I was shocked and I think a lightbulb appeared over my head.

So I changed my monitor to 1280x768 and had a flick through my dA gallery. OH MY GOD my cats looked like monsters - from what you could see of them on the screen without scrolling... How awful. Anyway, so I was of two opinions. One that didn't care, because the image size was perfect for my screen (and therefore my viewing), and one that kicked myself for being so selfish, especially to people still on dialup who, not only have to wait forever for the image to load (if they even did) and then have to scroll around the screen to see the picture which completely killed the impact.

From now on my images will be 800x500andsomething or so and although they look miniscule on my screen, I'll still have my raw and full size images on my computer, external hdd and backup DVD's to look at. This isn't too big still, is it? I had a squiz at the sizes of some of =wazabees images and they're in the 800sx500s and he's got everything pretty well sussed

I've also gone through and resized my latest pics (the macro's) but don't much care about the rest of them since I'm not 100% happy with them anyway. However, if you would like to see an image of mine smaller, please let me know and I'll resize and re-upload.

So, the more I thought about this, the angrier I got with myself so I just went and re-uploaded pretty much all the images I took with the 400D. I feel so much better

Well... I just went out this arvo and bought a Canon 40D body I've only had my 400D since last september but I really wanted something more. The 400D is such an awesome camera but I think for me, it was time to upgrade And woah my gosh what an upgrade. The specs are very very similar between the 2 cameras but I just got the new one all set up and took a few quick shots on some different settings and you can just tell it's a much better built camera. It feels so sturdy and ... eeeeeee I love it already I'm gonna have to do some wrist weights or something though because it's a bit bigger and heavier than the 400D!

Soo..... anyone wanna buy a 400D (body only) for AU$700 or so?

I'm going for a drive!!

I found some photo's of my boys when they were kittens! I had completely forgotten that I'd scanned a whole heap of pics in. They're dodgy quality because of the happy-snap film camera I used back then, but go and check them out in my Scraps

Now I'm off to Kangaroo Point to see what I can do with this light, I think
